TWO KILLED IN SANKHUWASABHA LANDSLIDE


 


SANKHUWASABHA, June 14

Two people have died and four are missing in the various landslides occurred at different places of Sankhuwasabha District as of Saturday. The landslides and flash floods were triggered by heavy downpour since Thursday evening.
Those killed by landslide are 32-year-old Sumumaya Tamang of Thaprang, Pathivara VDC-1 and 69-year-old Kalimaya Rai of Numa VDC-1, according to the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha.
Similarly, those missing are a three-year-old son of Sumumaya and Roshan Tamang, Urmila Tamang and two-year-old Sunita Tamang of Numa VDC-3.
The swollen Sankhuwa Khola and Pawakhola rivers in the northern belt of the district have swept away three suspension bridges while the swollen Hewakhola Riverin the southern belt has swept away five bridges, it is stated.
The flooding caused by the incessant rain has also damaged farmland and crops and four hydropower projects in the district causing millions of rupees of damage, police said. RSS
