Bhojpur airport shuts down for upgradation


 


Bhojpur, Dec 9: The flights to and from the Bhojpur only airport at Taskar have been halted following the start of the upgradation work today.

The necessary works to upgrade the airport including the black-topping of the runway – which had been put on hold in the wake of an earthquake, trade blockade and monsoon – have resumed and the airport will remain shut for the next three months, Airport Chief, Durga Mani Chaudhary said.

The airport which came into operation in 2031 BS had undergone upgradation three years ago, but stalled due to earthquake, blockade and monsoon. The airport – 545 meters in length and 20 meters wide – will remain shut until March 8, 2017.
