Gachhadar lashes out at Upendra Yadav
BIRATNAGAR, June 16: Chairman of the Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (Democratic) Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has said the 16-point agreement among the four major parties was in deference to the people’s aspiration.
Speaking in the press meet the party held in Biratnagar on Tuesday, he expressed the belief that the agreement has paved the way for the drafting of the new constitution with federalism. He said the people would get the new constitution within mid-July or by July end.
He said the agreement has also been hailed by the UN, the European Union member nations as well as our immediate neighbors as India and China because it was a consensus document. Asked by journalists regarding his views on the merger between the Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Nepal and the Federal Socialist Party led by Ashok Rai, leader Gachhadar said, “The MPRF-N Nepal now has lost the moral right to claim a Madhes province after dropping the word ‘ Madhesi’ in the name of the new party.”
Similarly, he argued that leaders like Ashok Rai too have lost their moral right to claim as the messiahs of the indigenous nationalities after dropping the ‘indigenous nationalities’ tag in the name of the new party.
Gachhadar, who is one of the signatories of the 16-point agreement, also predicted polarization among the parties and his own party’s unification with smaller parties.
He also stressed that efforts were on to bring the parties opposed to the agreement on board. RSS
