Amendment bill against national interest: Chairman Oli
Pokhara Jan 22: Chairman of the CPN-UML and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli has said the constitution amendment bill was against national interest.
Inaugurating the three-day volleyball competition and an orientation programme his party organized here Sunday, Chairman Oli said all four points proposed for the amendment were not the needs of the country and people.
He further accused the government of proposing amendment which is aimed at weakening national unity and integrity and hurting the relations among the people from hills and southern plains. The UML was working actively against this conspiracy for the sake of country, he argued.
Although elections are imperative to implement the constitution, present government is filibustering the activities to this regard, he blamed.
On the occasion, senior leader of the party and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said the country was heading towards change. So it is the need of hour to institutionalize the achievement gained so far, he added.
He seconded Chairman Oli saying that ill-efforts were underway to jeopardize national unity and integrity.
Party leader Kiran Gurung urged the party leadership to rise above factionalism to emerge it the largest party.
Central Chairman of Youth Association Nepal, Rajib Pahari, said the constitution implementation was essential to institutionalize the achievements.
