Huge national flag hoisted at Maitighar Mandal


 


Kathmandu, Jan 29: A huge national flag has been hoisted at Maitighar Mandal in the capital city on the occasion of the Martyrs Day on Sunday.
During a programme organized by Nepali Patriotic Youths Society, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Rastrakavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire unfurled the flag for hoisting. The huge flag measures 10 meter in length and 7.5 meter in width.
On the occasion, Chairman Oli said patriotism was growing intense after Nepali sovereignty was being besmirched.
Also the former prime minister, Chairman Oli said he would not let anyone belittle and divide the country. “We’re ready to struggle, but never ready to weaken our nationality,” he underscored. He urged the ruling CPN (Maoist-Centre) and the Nepali Congress, and the Madhesi parties to follow the suit for the sake of nationality.
On a different note, he said, “It seems efforts are underway to avoid elections. But the UML has the strength to exert pressure on the government to hold the elections on time.”
Rastrakavi Ghimire expressed happiness over the interest the youths have taken for nationality.
A dozen of people from diverse field including runner Meera Rai and artist Mohan Das Shrestha were honoured on the occasion.
