NC pays tributes to Shakya



Kathmandu, May 6: The Nepali Congress has paid heartfelt condolence to its leader and former minister Marshal Julum Shakya.

Shakya died at 8:45 this morning in the Grande International Hospital, Kathmandu. He was 77.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba draped the party’s flag on the mortal remains of Shakya and expressed condolences, at the NC central office, Sanepa.

Shakya’s body was kept at the party central office to pay last tribute where NC leaders Ram Chandra Poudel, general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala, Shekhar Koirala, KB Gurung, Prakashman Singh, Tirtharam Dangol, Bhimsen Das Pradhan and others paid their tribute to late Shakya.

On the occasion, Deuba said that Shakya’s demise was an irreparable loss to the NC adding that the party highly regards Shakya’s role in the reestablishment of democracy.

“Late Shakya was a leader with self-esteem. He never compromised with others for democracy,” NC President Deuba added.

Likewise, senior leader Poudel praised Shakya’s role for nationality, democracy and socialism.

Shakya was the Minister for Supplies representing Nepali Congress in the Interim Cabinet formed immediately after the success of the People’s Movement, 2046 BS. RSS
