Police arrest national football players over alleged ‘match fixing’


 


sagar thapaKATHMANDU, Oct 14: Nepal Police on Wednesday arrested National football skipper Sagar Thapa along with three other players in connection to alleged match fixing in national and international games.

Besides Thapa, police have arrested national football players—Ritesh Thapa and Sandeep Rai and former national football players Anjan KC and Bikash Singh Chettri, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division Sarbendra Khanal said. “We are investigating into the issue,” he added.

KC is also the former coach of Three Star Club. He had deserted the club in the mid of the ongoing national league.

Thapa and Rai are Three Star Club players and Ritesh Thapa belong to Nepal Police Club. Chetrri is also former Three Star and national player.
