Nepal loses T20I status

KATHMANDU, July 19: Nepal lost its ICC T20 International status as it crashed out of ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers on Saturday.

International Cricket Council (ICC) had granted Nepal T20I status on July 28, following its performances in the ICC World T20 held in Bangladesh last year, which came into effect from October 1.

However, Nepal failed to keep the achievement as it failed to qualify for the next year’s ICC World Twenty20 scheduled to be held in India.

Nepal lost four matches out of six in the Group ‘A’ during Qualifiers being held in Ireland and Scotland and won only one match against USA and shared a point with Namibia due to bad weather.

Nepal is currently in 15th position of the ICC T20 rankings.
