Japan approves utilization of counterpart fund

Kathmandu, Oct 5: The Japanese government has approved the utilization of the counterpart fund under food aid amounting to a total of Rs 610 million to Nepal.
The approval was made at the request of Nepal government, states a press release issued by Embassy of Japan here Wednesday.
With this, the counterpart fund will be utilized for the implementation of different seven projects including conservation of Panchmukhi Hanuman Angamchhen, main façade of Durbar and Defutaleju Temple of Patan, irrigation system maintenance systems project, construction of warehouse, construction of NTFP/MAP processing plant, establishment of wood seasoning and treatment plant and Karnali Academy of Health Science and health service strengthening system.
The Fund can be utilized for implementing various social and economic development projects through consultation between the two countries. The Counterpart Fund was established through the financial assistance extended by the Government of Japan under Food Aid, adds the release.
