Government to deploy NA in conflict-affected areas
KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The government has decided to deploy Nepal Army (NA) in conflict-affected areas in different parts the country.
Minister for Home Affairs Bamdev Gautam informed the parliament that the meeting of security council decided to mobilize NA in Tikapur of Kailali, Malangawa of Sarlahi and Gaur of Rautahat.
Minister Gautam said that the council concluded that Nepal Police & Armed Police Force alone can’t maintain order and army needed to be mobilized.
“Meeting of security council has decided that as per Local Administration Act, Chief District Officers will deploy NA in emergency areas,” Gautam said.
Minister Gautam informed that APF Head Constable Ram Bir Tharu was set on fire by protesters, while SSP Laxman was stabbed with a spear.
“Rest of the security personnel were also stabbed,” he added.
