Washington DC, Dec 12: Nepali social worker and 2012 CNN Hero of the Year, Pushpa Basnet, has been awarded the title of CNN Super Hero by the famed news channel CNN.
She received the 2016 CNN Super Hero during the Sunday night’s show in Los Angeles, California, according to Gaurav Kandel, who has been running the online voting campaign for Basnet.
After receiving the award, Basnet said the most important thing is to have belief in one’s work and remain patient. She has expressed her gratitude to all who have supported her in realizing her dream.
Pushpa Basnet has been running the Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC) to provide housing, education, medical services and meals for children forced to live in prisons with their convicted parents.
Basnet also received $50,000 along with the title. The CNN Super Hero was selected to mark the occasion of a decade of the campaign to select CNN Heroes.
