Govt issues warning to gold smugglers

Kathmandu, Jan 17: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara, has warned of taking action against those involved in gold smuggling.
DPM Mahara has directed the Finance secretary and officials at the revenue office to carry out serious investigation in this connection.
Issuing a press note today, the Ministry has refuted the news carried by media involving DPM Mahara’s name in the gold smuggling incident. The Ministry said that the news was intended to foul the Minister’s character.
It is also stated in the statement that the Ministry has not taken any decision regarding forming a Tax Clearance Commission as per the demand of FNCCI.
