UML agrees to end House disruption

Kathmandu, June 5: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s path for the prime ministerial berth has become easier after the CPN (UML) agreed to resume the Legislature-Parliament business.
During a meeting of the three major political parties held in Singha Durbar today at the initiative of Speaker Onsari Gharti, the UML leaders have said that they would not obstruct the House meeting.
After the meeting, Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress President Deuba and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli would address the House after the resumption of the House meeting.
Immediately after the address of the top leaders, Speaker Gharti would inform the House about all the procedures in the prime ministerial election and the election would be held in the second meeting of the House.
Likewise, UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal said that the second meeting of the House to be held on Tuesday would elect Deuba as the PM. Khanal also said that the top leaders have reached an agreement to conduct the second phase of the local level elections in a free, fair and fearless manner.
Similarly, consensus has been forged to work unitedly to conduct the polls of province and central levels and utilize the state mechanisms neutrally.
