FNJ calls journalists to resign from executive committee to contest polls
Kathmandu, June 11: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has asked the journalists to tender resignation from the executive committee of the FNJ if they were to contest the local polls.
Issuing a press release on Sunday, FNJ General Secretary Ujir Magar has urged the journalists to resign from the executive committee of the FNJ’s any committee as per the letter and spirit of the FNJ’s statute if the journalists filed their candidacies in the polls for any of the political post.
The FNJ also said that the post of the journalists’ working committee shall be vacant automatically if they contest the polls without tendering resignation.
Furthermore, the FNJ urged the journalists filing their candidacies in the local polls to resign on moral ground even if they are not in the FNJ’s executive committee, saying that remaining in politics and journalism at the same time would invite a clash of interest. RSS
