President briefed of efforts on wildlife conservation

Kathmandu, Sept 6: Various stakeholders have briefed President Bidya Devi Bhandari about the efforts made on wildlife conservation.
During a programme organized at President’s Office Wednesday, Deputy Director at National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department, Gopal Prasad Bhattarai, made presentation on ‘Current Status and Challenges of Nepal’s Wildlife Conservation’.
The working paper mentioned that a single ecosystem was practiced since 2030 in Nepal. Before 2030BS, the Kings used to hunt the animals. However, due attention was awaited in the role of community in the wildlife conservation and climate-friendly conservation.
Similarly, Nepal Army official Krishna Sapkota informed that among 20 conservation areas, Nepal Army was providing security in 14 areas. A total of 109 NA persons had lost their lives in course of the conservation efforts.
There are 118 ecosystems, 75 wild species, 35 species of forest, and 850 species of birds in Nepal.
